Characters From Long Ago Then and Now

This is a fun little thing to do. I drew characters that I created many years ago today and I dug up drawings from nine years ago of those same characters. I put them side by side to show the change in the art over nine years. I think it's actually interesting to see the change. Take a look:

Life Gets in the Way

So, I haven't had sketches in a few days, this is because I've come down with a serious eye infection which has made it extremely difficult to see, let alone draw. I will TRY to post some COHERENT sketches over the next few days as my eyes slowly climb back up from partial blindness. So, my apologies. I'm working on more sketches and I'll let you know when I can see like how people are supposed to see.

I usually draw SEPARATE doodles for SADC than when I'm doing my comic. Unfortunately, I've been running low on time, so these are sketches that I've done every day...just not SPECIFICALLY for this project. It's still a sketch though, right? Sketching every day is the point.

I'm currently attempting to do "The Artist's Way." One of the activities involves drawing your "Artist Self." I'm not actually THERE yet, but a friend of mine suggested I draw my artist self as a little kid, as it's harder (for me) to be mean to little kids (and therefore to my artist self). I decided I wanted her to look like this little girl who I draw a lot, since I find her adorable. So this is how it came out. She doesn't want me to be mean to her anymore. I'll give it a shot....

I had a hard time getting back into this after my DAY OF FAIL. I decided to challenge myself a little and draw a wildly different body type than my normal slim-and-fit figures. So here's a big girl as an experiment. Ooooo. Ahhhhh. I think I might draw an old person next.

So I TOTALLY failed this challenge, and, you know, I'm horrified about it. I missed the 18th COMPLETELY. I missed bookmarking a post on the blog AND I think I only EDITED yesterday, didn't draw. So. SHOCK AND HORROR. I am so mad at myself. I've drawn today but...really...yesterday I edited and the most complex thing I drew was a circle. I'm so mad I could retch. I think I'm going to just post drawings for today and yesterday on the next blog post. I wanted to do an update of shame. SHAME. SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME.

I have my drawing for today. I just CAN'T SCAN IT because my computer's a DICK. I just wanted to point out that I DO the sketch on the DAY it's SUPPOSED to be sketched, I just...sometimes can't post right away because of my computer or my internet or both. So today's is like that. It WOULD be another "the ________" post. I think I am going to title it "The Good Girl" but...you know ass-er-nets. Argh. -.- I'll try to post it. Suck.
