SADC: Re-making

"I'm so happy to see you!" "Because you disgust me." "I prooooobably shouldn't have said that...."

SADC: ...Do SO Wear Pink!

I made about 7 different sketches of Re today and these are the only ones that came out decent. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate.

SADC: Re-turns!

Re again, trying to flesh her out a bit more. I am going to be working with her for the next couple days...she'll probably be a little easier than the last two.

SADC: More Lee Sketches

Sick of this guy, huh? Just trying some more things out. I think I'm moving on after these.

SADC: Back to Lee

Still working on more Lee stuff, really trying to narrow down a design. Nixed the black eyes, going for a spikier look to the hair, less soft anyway. Ta...da?

SADC: Reading and Rain

A "whatever" kind of doodle for a "whatever" kind of day. It's been raining for almost a week straight. I thought it would be nice to PRETEND to like it though. Curling up with a good book while it rains can be pretty fun though!

SADC: Repetitive-Lee

Just trying some more things. Mostly working with the black eyes. I think they are too scary. I switched to all white instead in the last one there. Not sure if that's going to work out. I'm kind of liking the hair though. May flatten it more.

SADC: Lee Again

Still working with him...trying to not make his hair such poofy good-guy hair. I do like it that way a bit though. I like the profile shot the best. I think I'm going to give him a near-constantly crooked smile. The black eyes are something I'm playing with too. I think it makes his whole face look like a skull...I kinda like that. Too creepy?

SADC: Lee

Lee was already attempted and designed, basically. Now I'm going through and trying to refine the design. His cheekbones are proving to be a bit of a problem and I am conflicted on the fluffy hair. MORE TO BE DONE WITH HIM.

SADC: Squirrel and Cowy

I'm fostering a kitten who has the TERRIBLE habit of stealing my FAVORITE stuffed animal, Cowy, and hiding him under the bed. (Yes, I know, no need to argue the semantics of naming a "boy" cow "Cowy" instead of "Bully). I always imagine she's rather proud of herself when she's SQUIRRELED him away without my notice.

You can tell a day is TOTALLY DEVOID of inspiration when you've defaulted to drawing your animal. Ugh. Rainy days will do that to ya.

...anybody want a kitten?

SADC: Avangelan

Had this dream last night/this morning about this great adventure with this boy and his pet. It was all kind of fuzzy, but one of my favorite parts involved a creature much like this one. Some kind of Siamese twins peacock bird with the heads of little girls. WEIRD. I liked the idea though and the story. The land the boy was traveling to was "Avangelan." I might do something with this some day....

SADC: Sorrow

In kindofa mood tonight. I got 500 sheets of paper, thanks to my sister. I want to see how long it takes for me to go through it.

SADC: Ulysses Take 3

Just working the two last designs from yesterday into something a little younger. Added freckles. A little not sure about them. Kinda like him without.

SADC: Ulysses Take 2

Was REALLY stuck on him for a while, but I think the last two are my favorites. He might be looking too old though. Hmmmm. I seem to have a thing for designing intelligent men to have long features. Weird.

SADC: Ulysses

Ulysses is up next for designing. He's looking a little too "good guy" for me. I think he needs a little more evil-izing. Short hair, long hair, just working things around. I, personally like the long hair. First round of designing is always rather rough....

SADC: Bunny

Still taking a mini break from character designing and still continuing my experimenting with Dean Yeagle's work. Yes, because I always put on lipstick before going on a run.

SADC: Lana

Was tired of failing with Richard and moved on to just sketching out this lady. Heavily influenced by many of Dean Yeagle's works. Yeagle is ALWAYS a great look for ANY girl, but I miss Lana's down-to-Earth, rugged charm. Ahhh well. She still looks cute.

SADC: Richard Take 4 (Dear G0D)

This guy will NOT give me a break. I lowered the jaw point and widened and shortened the face a bit. I also made the nose a little less pointy, more "lion-ish." I think I really like this one best. NO FOOLIN'. For realisies.

SADC: Richard Take 3

I think I've FINALLY got the design I want. I may have to square out and flatten that little goatee thing of his...soul patch? Leaving it scruffy makes it seem like he's channeling Shaggy from "Scooby Doo." I think I like the center one best..

SADC: Richard

Finished up with Re, pretty much. Now working on Richard. I like the bottom most one of the circle but I really want to play with his face a little more. The far left one has this boxy face and boxer's nose that I like but he looks too old. Want to play with the squareness of the jaw and the different shape to the nose. Added the scar and like it. I think the ORIGINAL original design had a scar. Need to change the hair. It's been kind of an ICK day so...not really in the mood for drawing. Nnnnnnhhhhhhh.

SADC: Dean Yeagle Girl

Girl based off of Dean Yeagle's girls. Not too happy with this one. Been drawing a lot of girls...will draw boys or animals or something next time.

SADC: Re-trying

Thought I'd take another crack at Re. Playing with her eye-shape a bit. She started to get more of a life of her own towards the end there. Shhheeee's kinda nutso.

SADC 3: Re-working (har har har)

Combining projects. SADC plus trying to muddle through some character designs. This is Re (hee hee). Or, at least some designs for Re. Which one do YOU like the best? May submit more designs of her for tomorrow's SADC.

SADC (Sketch-A-Day Challenge) Day 2: Obnoxious Girl

Day 2 of the Sketch-A-Day Challenge (SADC). Today? Obnoxious girl. Her pose was a little inspired from "The Chipmunk Adventure" from back in the day. I wasn't WATCHING the movie at the time, but I just remembered Alvin in "The Boys/Girls of Rock and Roll" number and the idea popped into my head. She was kind of fun to draw. I kinda like her, I may play with her design more later.

Sketch-A-Day Challenge

So, first blog post and it's really just designating this blog as a host for my self-proposed Sketch-A-Day Challenge. The goal of this exercise is to really just stop my art-muscles from atrophying and maybe just to keep a consistent goal and deadline? Something like that. Anyway, it's the first of 2010 and I'm going to try and post my first sketch...if I can figure this thing out....

It's kind of a New Year's tradition for me to start the year off with a drawing of these four kids. Why? I don't know, I did it last year and thought I'd bring it through again. Here's last year's sketch....

And here's 2010's

I liked the way the boys came out, but the girl REFUSED to be drawn correctly. Oh well.

One sketch down. 364 to go....
