 HAPPY NEW YEAR!

So, uh, hi. I am here, January 1st of 2013 to...continue the sketch challenge that I completed in December. What can I say? I see no reason to stop the chain now. If I miss a day, I miss a day. But if I can keep it going, I WILL!

This is actually my FAVORITE part of the sketch challenge.  Every year I start off drawing the SAME FOUR children.  First of January and BAM!  I know exactly what to draw.  Plus, putting them one after another, is pretty fun.  I like seeing how the drawings have changed...if at all.  This year, the distinct difference is using the blue-lined pencil.  It's kinda neat to notice the patterns in how the kids are drawn, too.

SADC: Request! Kids

My sister knows how much I like to draw kids, especially a certain group of them! She requested that I draw my favorite kids plus a couple extra in some activity. So, I chose Capture the Flag, since it's likely they would participate in such fun and games.

 Honestly, it did not come out as I had hoped. It barely came out at all. But, it was fun to sketch and give it a shot. Yay!

IT BEGINS AGAIN.

[UPDATE:] After a horrific computer death in late December, I was stranded without posting abilities for a while. It wasn't until recently that I got my computer back. I did, however, start the Sketch-a-Day Challenge (SADC) on the first of the year, as I always do anyway. It's only been NOW that I've had a chance to upload and retroactively post. The drawings that come after were all drawn on the appropriate days, I'm just NOW getting to post them. Don't expect too much conversation with these as I'm just going to be trying to post them. This year begins with the four faces I draw every year. I was hideously ill when I drew these--spent my New Year's FRESH out of the hospital and was little more than a bundle of disoriented nerves. Enjoy!

So, I'm giving the SADC (Sketch-a-Day Challenge) another shot. I think I have a better chance this time as I actually have internet in my apartment. Last year I had to jump through hoops to post. Anyway, I started the year off with my usual four children. YAAAAAAAAY! Aren't they adorable.

Sketch-A-Day Challenge

So, first blog post and it's really just designating this blog as a host for my self-proposed Sketch-A-Day Challenge. The goal of this exercise is to really just stop my art-muscles from atrophying and maybe just to keep a consistent goal and deadline? Something like that. Anyway, it's the first of 2010 and I'm going to try and post my first sketch...if I can figure this thing out....


It's kind of a New Year's tradition for me to start the year off with a drawing of these four kids. Why? I don't know, I did it last year and thought I'd bring it through again. Here's last year's sketch....

I liked the way the boys came out, but the girl REFUSED to be drawn correctly. Oh well.
